In this step, you define the wage types used to pay bonus payments.
Bonus payments generally have a tax-free component that is configured in the step Define Limit for Non-Taxable Bonus Amount in the Taxation section of the Implementation Guide for Payroll Philippines.
For the tax-free rule to apply, the bonus payment must be configured to cumulate into both the employee's total gross salary and into the 13th Month + Bonus Pay Non-Taxable amount.
Certain types of bonuses do not qualify for the tax-free threshhold and are taxed like regular pay. This type of bonus payment must be configured to cumulate into both the employee's total gross salary and into the taxable gross amount.
Example
Wage Type Total Gross Taxable Gross 13th Mth+Bonus Non-tax
13th Month Pay X X
Mid-Year Bonus X X
Productivity Bonus X X
Longevity Pay X X
Requirements
Standard settings
The standard system contains SAP model wage types for bonus payments. You can copy these wage types to create your own.
Recommendation
If you create your own bonus payment wage types, you must ensure that they are valid for entry into the One-Time Pay Off-Cycle infotype (0267). SAP recommends that you copy the model wage types as these have been preconfigured for entry into infotype 0267.
Activities
- Copy the bonus payment wage types.
- Flag cumulation class 01 to cumulate the wage types into the technical wage type /101 Total Gross.
- If the bonus wage type is eligible for the tax-free component, flag cumulation class 02 to cumulate the wage type into technical wage type /102 13th Month + Bonus Non-Tax.
- If the bonus wage type is always subject to tax, flag cumulation class 11 instead to cumulate the wage type into technical wage type /111 Taxable Gross.
