In this IMG activity, you define the date types for the start of the length of service and length of employment. You also assign the relevant Date Indicator (14 for the length of service and 15 for the length of employment) to these date types. The defined date types are then used in the Date Specifications infotype (0041) to save the start date for the length of service and length of employment.
Depending on the pay scale regulation, the period calculation is based on the employee's length of service or employment. The system therefore requires both date types in order to determine an employee's length of service and length of employment.
The difference between the length of service and the length of employment has the following significance for the period calculation:
- The length of service takes account of all times when the employee was employed in the public sector, including any time spent working for other employers.
- The length of employment takes account of only those times when the employee was employed by the current employer.
Example
Public Sector:
In the Collective Agreement for the Public Sector (BAT), the following times are the basis for determining continued pay and sick pay supplement periods:
- If the old regulation (up to June 30, 1994) applies to the salaried employee, the length of service is taken as the basis here.
- If the new regulation (as of July 01, 1994) applies to the salaried employee, the length of employment is taken as the basis here.
Requirements
Standard settings
The standard SAP system contains the following date types for the length of service and the length of employment:
Date Type Description Date Indicator
14 Length of service 14
15 Length of employment 15
Recommendation
Copy the entries in the standard SAP system. If you define your own date types, you have to assign the date indicators 14 for the length of service and 15 for the length of employment to these date types. Note that a particular indicator can be assigned to one date type only.
Activities
- Check the entries in the standard SAP system.
- If you create your own date types for the start of the length of service and the length of employment, assign the following date indicators to these date types:
- Length of service: 14
- Length of employment: 15
- Check whether the date indicators 14 and 15 are assigned to one date type only.
- Save your changes.
