IS-M/AM supports generation of several billing datasets with different calculation periods for an online item.
This means that revenues can be posted by periods and more than one invoice can be created for the overall posting period.
To define calculation periods, you need to define a date rule and its determination in Customizing.
Two options are available to you for defining calculation periods:
- Definition Using the Factory Calendar
Generation periods are determined by defining dates as weekdays on which generation periods are to end using a special factory calendar. This is similar to the procedure for determining planned billing dates.
When generating billing datasets, the system searches for the next weekday in the calendar starting from the earliest planned publication date. - If the weekday is earlier than the latest planned publication date, the system generates a billing dataset with a service start date that corresponds to the earliest planned publication date and a service end date that corresponds to the weekday from the calendar. The next billing dataset is created similarly but starts a day after the service end date for the previous billing dataset.
- If the latest planned publication date is earlier than the next weekday from the calendar, the last billing dataset ends with the latest planned publication date.
- Definition of the distance between two billing datasets
Starting with the earliest planned publication date, the number of days specified is combined as a range. The last range ends on the same day as the latest publication date.
Note: If you have defined a factory calendar and distance, the factory calendar is used to determine the generation periods.
Determine date rule
The corresponding Customizing table is accessed up to two times to determine the date rule: The first access specifies the sales area and factory calendar for the advertiser Billing schedule field on the "Billing Sales and Distribution" tab page in the media customer master data). The second access uses the sales area if no rule is found for the combination specified.
Distribute target gross impressions
Target gross impressions are defined at booking unit/content component assignment level. If the system generates several billing datasets for this type of assignment, target gross impressions must be divided between the individual billing datasets. To do so, you require a distribution rule.
