Use

In this activity you build the cause hierarchy that is to be used in your company for incident/accident log entries.

Standard settings

Default settings are shipped.

Activities

Adapt the default settings to suit your requirements or build a new cause hierarchy for the incident/accident log.

Carry out the following steps to build a cause hierarchy:

  1. Under Node Types, specify the levels that your cause hierarchy is to include. If, for example, your hierarchy is to include five levels, create node types 1 through 5. The numbers 1 to 5 here represent the respective hierarchy level: "1" is the highest hierarchy level, "5" is the lowest.

Assign an icon to each level if required. The icon appears in the application in front of the respective node in the hierarchy.

  2. Under Hierarchy Nodes, specify which causes (= nodes) are to be included in the hierarchy and assign a node type to each of them.

Note that the text you enter under Cause Description appears in the application.

If a cause in the hierarchy is to appear several times with different predecessor causes, you must create the cause several times with different keys.

  3. Under Cause Hierarchy, specify the key and the description for your cause hierarchy and set the Inc./Acc. Log indicator. The namespaces for the cause hierarchy key are "Y*" and "Z*".

    Note:

  4. In the Customizing screen, the use of the cause hierarchy in other components has already been prepared. However, for the current release it is only activated for use in the incident/accident log.
  5. Under Nodes for Hierarchy, specify which hierarchy nodes are to appear in your hierarchy. With the exception of causes in the highest hierarchy level, always assign a predecessor cause.
