Use

In this process step, you set up the search engine connection to the LDAP directory service you use.

Before you can create the connection to the directory service, the following prerequisites must be fulfilled that you can define in this activity:

  • Define the logon data of the system user
  • Define the technical paramters of the LDAP server (application server)
  • Configure the connector (connection to the LDAP directory service)

Activities

Call the activity and perform the following process steps.

  1. Store logon data of system user
    1. Select the Create System User pushbutton.
    2. In change mode, select the New Entries pushbutton.
    3. In the User ID field, enter a user, for example, Expert.
    4. Enter the attributes in the LDAP System User group box:
      In the Distinguished Name field, enter the value cn=Directory Manager.
      In the Auth Mechanismus field, choose the value Simple Bind from input help. In the Credential Storage field, choose the value Secure Memory from input help.
      Then choose the Change pushbutton. In the dialog box, define the system user's password and confirm the entries.
    5. Save your entries.
    6. Choose the Back pushbutton.
      The Directory Service Connection screen is displayed.
  2. Set up LDAP server
    1. Select the Server pushbutton.
    2. In change mode, select the New Entries pushbutton.
    3. Enter a name in the Server Name field. In the Server group box, enter the required information on the host name (host name of the LDAP server), the port number, product name, and the LDAP application.
      Note: In the Perform General Settings activity, you can define an object type in the LDAPA field. If the Default checkbox is selected for the LDAP server, the default server is used for the application you have selected.
      If, in the Perform General Settings activity, you store a server ID in the LDAPS field, the server that you specify will always be used irrespective of the application.
    4. Save your entries.
    5. Select the Back pushbutton.
  3. Configure connector
    1. On the Directory Service Connection screen, select the Connector pushbutton.
      The Change LDAP Connector view is displayed.
    2. In the Connector Name field, store the name of the LDAP connector as RFC destination.
      The destination must have already been defined in the Additional Settings -> Set Up Search Engine -> Set Up RFC Connection for Search Engine activity.
    3. In the LDAP Connector (Maintenance View) group box, enter the necessary parameters: In the application server field, choose a suitable server from input help and in the Status field, the value Connector Active.
    4. Select the Activate Connector pushbutton.
    5. Save your entries.
  4. Execute different operations
    1. Log on
    2. - On the Directory Service Connection screen, enter the server name and the name of the connector.
      - In the Operations group box, select the Log On pushbutton.
      - Select the system user checkbox and select Execute.

      If the traffic light icon turns green, the connection to the LDAP service has been created and your LDAP connection is configured correctly.
    3. Find
    4. - On the Directory Server Connection screen, select the Find pushbutton.
      - Enter the search parameters according to the structure of your LDAP directory.
      - Select Execute.
      The system displays a list of data from the LDAP directory you selected.
