By defining an application, you can link multiple business scenarios in a single transaction. All the business scenarios and their associated process scenarios would be shown in the ALV tree control.

The pension administration application may have two business scenarios - Basic Pension Assessment for Employee and Assessment for Dependent. The process scenarios under each of these may be different. But the master data user wants to handle both of these assessments under the same application/transaction.

So the above two business scenarios could be grouped together using a common application name.
