Use

To perform administrative activities that change client-wide settings or Help Center content, you need the necessary authorization. You also need authorization to start the Help Center from an application.

Activities

Authorizing Users to Start Web Dynpro ABAP Applications

To start the Help Center in Web Dynpro ABAP, and display and search for content, you have to assign authorization to users:

  1. Call transaction PFCG.
  2. Assign the role SAP_BC_WDHC_START to the users.
  3. Save your entries.

Authorizing Users to Change Help Center IMG Settings

  1. To authorize members of the implementation project to edit Help Center settings in the Implementation Guide (IMG), proceed as follows:
    1. Adapt a suitable role containing authorization to edit customizing projects (for example, SAP_BC_CUS_CUSTOMIZER), and assign it to the users.
    2. Make sure that the role contains authorization for table maintenance (authorization object S_TABU_DIS).
    3. Optional: If you only want to allow changes to Help Center settings, restrict the authorization object S_TABU_DIS to the authorization group SHC.
  2. Assign the relevant authorizations from the basis administration area to the members of the implementation project for the following tasks:
    • Creating and editing the logical paths to the network folder for Help Center files and to the installed SAP Library
    • Creating and editing the RFC destination for the Solution Manager system
    • Creating and releasing transport requests

      Note: Special authorizations for providing the Solution Manager repository and the search function are described in the Help Center documentation.

Authorizing Users for Local and Central Administration of Help Center Content

  • To authorize users to manage Help Center content locally (in the Help Center of the respective application), assign them the role SAP_BC_WDHC_POWERUSER.
  • To authorize users to manage Help Center content centrally (cross-application), assign them the role SAP_BC_WDHC_ADMINISTRATOR.

    The role authorizes users to use the Web Dynpro ABAP application WDHA_ADMINISTRATION (transaction SHC_ADMIN). The system generates the menu entry for calling this application (Manage Help Center Content Centrally) automatically in the user menu of the authorized users.

Authorizing Users to Translate Help Center Texts

Assign the role SAP_BC_WDHC_TRANSLATOR to the users that are to translate Help Center texts.

The role authorizes users to use the Web Dynpro ABAP application WDHA_TRANSLATION (transaction SHC_TRANSLATION). The system generates the menu entry for calling this application (Translate Help Center Texts) automatically in the user menu of the authorized users.
