Use
In this Customizing activity, you define authorization groups for activities of the SAP component Basic Data and Tools that relate to specification data. You only need to make settings in this Customizing activity if you want to use specification authorization.
Example
Possible authorization groups are:
- PHARMA
- POLYMERS
- ALL
Recommendation
We recommend that you organize your authorization groups carefully as making changes to them subsequently can be time consuming.
Standard settings
Default settings are supplied.
Activities
- Establish whether you want to use specification authorization.
- Define the specification groups you want to differentiate between using the authorization group. Your authorization groups can, for example, reflect responsibilities for the individual product groups.
- You must assign a specification category to each authorization group.
If you create an authorization group for the SAP component Recipe Development, you have to assign it the specification category RECIPE_WUI.
Further notes
- In the SAP system, assign the data to a data provider via the authorization group.
If you have entered data providers in the transfer file during import, you must have created these data providers in the SAP component Product Safety under Tools -> Addresses -> Edit Data Providers.
See also: Dependencies.
- You can specify a default person or entity responsible for each authorization group.
This default setting is used as information in the status entries that were created for specifications of the relevant authorization group.
If necessary, you can assign a different responsible entity to a status entry in the header data of a specification.
The responsible entity is managed in the SAP component Human Resources Management depending on the object type (for example, work center, job, position). It is linked directly to Organizational Management.
The entity responsible for the specification is informed when an inheritance relationship is requested, approved, or rejected. The responsible entity is determined by means of the usage of the inheritance template from the specification status. If no suitable status entry is available, the responsible entity specified as the default in the IMG activity Specify Authorization Groups is informed.
