In this IMG activity you can define customer-specific item types on the basis of the controlling item types delivered by SAP. The item types serve to classify the items in the warranty claim version.

Use

The values that you define here are the values in the F4 help for the Item Type field in the warranty processing transactions.

Requirements

Standard settings

The controlling item types delivered by SAP are contained as copies as customer-specific item types in the SAP standard delivery.

It is not absolutely necessary to define your own item types.

However, it makes sense to define your own item types in the following cases:

  • If you want to choose your own keys and descriptions of rthe item types so that you can specify the item tyes by the name (purely informative).
    Example: you create your own item types for mechanical labor values, electrical labor values and labor values for paint-spraying and can tell by the item type key to what the item type is referring without having to search in the appropriate catalog.
  • For example, if you want to use the BAdIs WTY_CREATE_COPY/WTY_F4_ITMNO to link different catalogs to different item types for the same controlling item type (controlling function):
    • Controlling item type FR, customer-specific item type FR1, catalog ZWTY1
    • Controlling item type FR, customer-specific item type FR2, catalog ZWTY2
  • If you want to exclude specific item types of specific claim types

Activities

  1. Define your own item types if the controlling item types MAT (material), SUBL (sublet), FR (flatrate) und EXP (exploding list) delivered by SAP do not fulfill your business requirements.
  2. Group the item types (Customizing for Warranty Processing under Warranty Claim --> Define Item Type Groups).
  3. Assign the item type groups to the claim types (Customizing for Warranty Processing under Warranty Claim --> Define Warranty Claim Types).
