Note on Authorization Maintenance for Authorizations without Transactions

The Profile Generator uses transactions to generate profiles. When you perform the following activities, the system checks authorizations although no transactions are used:

  • When transferring data to the PI-PCS interface

    For information on the required authorization objects, see the documentation for the PI-PCS interface.

  • When automatically sending background jobs

    The system checks whether the user is authorized to send messages in the relevant plant. It checks authorization object C_MESS_WRK with activity A9. The standard system contains the maintenance authorization C_MESS_SND for this.

For the above-mentioned reasons, you must create authorization profiles manually.
Proceed as follows:

  1. To create authorization profiles, choose Tools -> Administration -> User maintenance -> Profiles in the menu.
  2. Create the work area for all profiles in namespace C_*. The authorization profiles shipped for the PP-PI component are displayed, for example.
    1. Copy the profile whose authorizations best suit your requirements.
    2. If required, tailor the profile you copied and the authorizations it contains to your needs.

Create Profile

  1. Assign your profile to a role.
    1. Return to the Customizing activity.
    2. Proceed as described in the Note section.
