Use

Target Hours

If you use target hours from the work schedule for time recording, you can specify a period for which you want the target hours to be transferred from SAP R/3 to CATS notebook. The target hours are then available in CATS notebook for each day of this period. Because the target hours are imported in the course of each synchronization, CATS notebook automatically takes account of changes in the shift plan for your selected period.

You do not enter dates to specify the period for the target hours; instead, you enter a number of days in the past and in the future, relative to the synchronization date. The actual period, therefore, changes dynamically with each synchronization.

The length of the period you choose will depend on the frequency with which you synchronize data. If you synchronize weekly, we recommend a period of 10 days before the synchronization date and 50 days after.

Data Storage

To limit the memory requirement, you can specify a period for which the data records in the CATS notebook data store are available. During the next synchronization, SAP R/3 then removes all data records from the CATS notebook data store that are no longer required.

You do not enter dates to specify the period for data storage, instead, you enter the period as the number of days before the synchronization date. The actual period, therefore, changes dynamically with each synchronization.

Example

Target Hours

You specify that the period for the target hours is to be 10 days before and after the synchronization date.

If you then run a synchronization on 04/11/02, the target hours are available in CATS notebook for each day from 04/01/02 through 04/21/02.

If you then run a synchronization on 04/16/2002, the target hours are available in CATS notebook for each day from 04/05/2002 through 04/26/2002.

Data Storage

Before you install and synchronize CATS notebook for the first time, you specify that the data storage period is 100 days counting back from the date of synchronization.

If you use this setting and install CATS notebook on 05/01/2002 and run the first synchronization that day, SAP R/3 transfers all data records to the CATS notebook data store that were entered between 01/21/2002 and 12/31/9999.

If you use this setting and run a synchronization on 05/08/2002, SAP R/3 removes all data records from the CATS notebook data store that were entered before 01/28/2002. At the same time, SAP R/3 synchronizes all data records entered between 01/28/2002 and 12/12/9999.

Caution

If, after the first synchronization, you were to extend the period specified in the example to 121 days and run another synchronization, SAP R/3 would not subsequently transfer to the CATS notebook data store the data records entered between 01/01/2002 and 12/31/9999. If you wanted additional records to be transferred, you would have to reset the CATS notebook data store and run another complete synchronization.
