Use

If you use Adobe Document Services (ADS) to create the print version of the PDF document, maintain a Web Service destination as well.

Requirements

  • ADS must be installed and configured
  • A connection must be established between the AS ABAP on which the Web Dynpro applications run, and an AS Java with Usage Type BI:
  • The ADSUser, a user for secure communication with the AS Java in which Adobe Document Services is installed, is set-up.

Standard settings

Activities

Proceed as follows, depending upon the AS Java release:

  • Until SAP NetWeaver 7.00, 7.01 or 7.02 (including SPs):

  • From 7.2 (including SPs)
    Read the section: Set-Up Web Service Destination for Adobe Document Services (in SAP NetWeaver Administrator), below

Set-up Web Service destination for Adobe Document Services (in Visual Administrator)

Perform the following steps, to set-up the Web Service destination for communication with the Adobe Document Services:

  1. Open the Visual Administrator with:
    • under Windows, the directory <drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\JC <INSTANCE>\j2ee\admin
    • under Unix, the directory /usr/sap/<SID>/JC<INSTANCE>/j2ee/admin.

      Double-click on the file go.bat.

  2. Choose a connection in the Visual Administrator logon screen, and choose Connect.
  3. Enter the password for the connection. You are now connected to the Visual Administrator.
  4. Go to the directory Server -> Services -> Web Services Security -> Web Service Clients -> sap.com -> tc~wd~pdfobject -> com.sap.tc.webdynpro.adsproxy.AdsProxy*ConfigPort_Document.
  5. To change the default URL http://localhost:50000/AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document , choose Custom from the drop-down list next to URL, for the destination URL.
  6. Enter the host name and port number <host name>:<port number> of the Adobe Document Services, instead of the string localhost:50000.
  7. Specify the user name and password. It must be a technical Adobe user which you created when configuring ADS.
  8. Save your entries.
  9. Go to Services -> Deploy so that the changed data is copied to the AS Java, and updated.
  10. Choose Application.
  11. Choose sap.com/tc~wd~pdfobject.
  12. To stop the application, choose Stop Application.
  13. Then choose Start Application.

Set-Up Web Service Destination for Adobe Document Services (in SAP NetWeaver Administrator)

Perform the following steps, to set-up the Web Service destination for communication with Adobe Document Services:

  1. Call the SAP NetWeaver Administrator with http://<Server>: <Port>/nwa.
    <server> is the AS Java on which the SAP NetWeaver Administrator is installed, and <port> is the AS Java HTTP port.
  2. Choose SOA Management -> Technical Configuration -> Destination Template Management.
  3. Choose Create Destination.
  4. Choose Destination Type WSIL.
  5. Enter ConfigPort_Document as Destination Name.
    The name is case-sensitive .
  6. Enter the URL http://<server>:<port>/inspection.wsil .
    <server> is the AS Java in which Adobe Document Services is installed, and <port> is the HTTP port of the AS Java.
  7. Choose HTTP Authentication in the Security tab, and User ID/Password (Basic), in the Authentication group.
  8. Choose Details and enter the user ID ADSUser. Enter and confirm the password which you asigned to ADSUser in the Adobe Document Services configuration.
  9. Save your entries.
    The destination appears in the Destination Template Management initial screen.
