In this step you maintain

  • Function trees
  • Nodes
  • Function nodes
  • Functions

The bases for maintaining these objects is always the selected environment.

Environment

The environment of a template governs the information of the SAP environment and possibly external systems, which can be accessed when defining a template. In an environment, functions are made available that are appropriate for the context. Environments always contain a range of sub-environments. These summarize all functions which belong to a particular subject area.

SAP Banking Environments

The following environments are supplied for SAP Banking:

  • BLN Loans
  • BCD Money market, forex, derivatives
  • BSO Security orders
  • BSS Security positions
  • BAC Accounts
  • BKK Bank Customer Accounts
  • BSV Services
  • BVT Variable transaction

In addition, you can also use the following subenvironments in SAP Banking:

  • BFO Subenvironment financial objects
  • BPA Business partner
  • BST Security class data

Recommendation

Try to use the SAP subenvironments in as far as it is possible. If you assign a function to a subenvironment, it is automatically available in all main environments which contain the corresponding subenvironment.

Function Tree

A function tree is a freely definable structure used in the hierarchical structuring of functions. Using function trees, you can structure the functions available in the respective environment according to their contents. Functions can also be edited here.

A function tree is assigned an environment and is composed of nodes and function nodes.

  • Environments: All existing environments are displayed when you call up the transaction. You cannot change or delete environments themselves. Also, it is not possible to create new environments.
  • Function Trees: These form the first level of the structure under environments. You can assign nodes or function nodes to a function tree.
  • Nodes: Nodes are always subordinate to function trees or other nodes. You can assign other nodes or function nodes to a node. Nodes contain subenvironments in the function trees SAP1 (see below).
  • Function nodes are alway subordinate to function trees or nodes. They always refer to a function.

SAP provides as standard the function tree SAP1 for all environments (for example, function tree SAP1-0001 for environment 001). This currently contains all nodes (subenvironments) and function nodes (referring to the respective function) supplied with the function tree.

Activities

In the transaction, you have available a left screen area and a right screen area. The left screen area first shows the existing environments. Here you can expand the hierarchy and display function trees, nodes and function nodes in their hierarchical position. By positioning the cursor on an object, you can begin the editing process.

The right screen area displays details for the objects currently selected (environment, function tree, node, or function node) in list form. If you select a function node by double-clicking, a screen appears in which you can maintain functions.

Further notes

The quickest way of obtaining further information is by choosing "Help -> Help for Applications" on the screen "Maintain environments and function trees".

The exact path in Help for Activity-Based Costing is "Template -> Template Environment -> Edit Functions" or "Template -> Function tree -> "Edit function tree".
