Use

In this Customizing activity you can define the residence time definition for a specific procedure for residence time determination (residence time policy) in the context of mass data processing for business archiving or deletion scenarios already supplied by SAP. Depending on the algorithm on which the relevant procedure is based, you can control how the system determines the residence time for the scenario.

You can also enhance scenarios and include new tables here in the context of the SAP enhancement concept.

Standard settings

Activities

  1. To specify the residence time definition for a specific procedure for residence time determination (residence time policy), choose the relevant archiving or deletion scenario by double-clicking to the left in the explorer tree. The system displays the detail screen for the scenario with multiple tab pages to the right of the screen.
  2. Choose the Residence Time Policy tab page, then the Residence Time Definition button next to the Procedure field.
  3. Depending on the predefined procedure, the following different screens appear, on which you have to make further entries:
    1. If Standard or Cyclical Resubmission is the predefined procedure, you are taken to the Customizing activity Configure Archiving Engine.
    2. If Hierarchical is set as the procedure, you are taken to the Hierarchical Derivation Service (HDS screen).
    3. If Individual is the preset procedure, the system provides you with the Customizing Transaction field. In this field, you can enter the technical name of a Customizing transaction you have programmed yourself, which the system uses to determine the residence time. This case is very rare, and is only used if you want to define a very specific residence time, which is not covered by any of the supplied procedures.
    4. If No Resubmission is the preset procedure, the system does not check the residence time before the business checks. No further entries are required in this case.
