Use

In this Customizing activity, you can define services and link them to any number of object types.

  • Services are actions that you can assign to specific fields
  • Object types are standard objects such as portfolio, portfolio item, bucket, decision point, review.

Requirements

Standard settings

There is no default configuration, but SAP delivers the following services:

  • Object link: You use this service to provide the capability to associate object link functionality with a business object type within the system. The object link functionality is used to search and select business objects that are not otherwise associated with the system. The service assignment provides the capability to store the reference to the external business object with the data. The global settings in Customizing provide field configuration where an business object field can be associated with an object link service. For example, the object type item may have a field where the selection for values for that field is provided by the object link service. The selected value from the search result is then stored within the item field reference.
  • Questionnaire: You use this service to provide questionnaire functionality to the object attributes that are assigned to this service. You can assign this service to the object attributes by choosing Check SAP Field Configuration. The assigned attributes are then displayed on the user interface (UI) with the questionnaire icon next to it, and the option of answering the questionnaire, resulting in a score value.
  • Scoring model: You use this service to provide scoring model functionality to the object attributes that are assigned to this service. You can assign this service to the object attributes by choosing
Check SAP Field Configuration. The assigned attributes are then displayed on the UI with the scoring model icon next to it. The value of the attribute then reflects the score that was calculated and derived based on the scoring model functionality.
  • Bucket selector: You use this service to enable searching for buckets within the portfolio context of data elements to which the service is assigned. For example, financial and capacity planning delivers the association between the sponsor field and the bucket selector service. The primary effect is that the user interface (UI) enables dropdown selection on the field sponsor and the dropdown list is a list of buckets from which you can make a selection. The service provides bucket reference information to be retained in the service assignee. For more information, see Define Financial Capacity Settings for Portfolio Types.
  • Advanced search (people search): You use this service to provide entry help for object attributes. You need to define a search help for that field in the DDIC structure of the API data type of the object. It displays a search screen. After the search is performed, the selected value from the search result will then be populated in the user interface (UI) field of the current object. You can select only one single value from the hit list. The relational and multiple level search is not supported.
  • Icon enabled: You use this service to provide the option of assigning icons to the object attributes that are assigned to this service. You can assign this service to the object attributes by choosing Check SAP Field Configuration. The assigned attributes are then displayed on the UI with the configured icon next to it.
Note: You must have defined the object fields icon by choosing Define Object Field Icons.
  • Status Management: You use this service for the status enabled fields of the object.
  • Custom Icon: You can link this service to an object type and assign it to an object attribute under Define Custom Field Configuration. The assigned attribute should be of data type character string so that it can contain a path to an icon, for example, in the MIME Repository.

This service causes the attribute to appear as an input field on the object overview screen but as an icon on the object dashboard.

Note: You must have defined the field in the Define Fields for Dashboards activity

Each service is linked to the relevant view and edit components in the front-end application.
