Definition

Keys that you use for defining exchange rates in the system.

Use

You can use exchange rate categories to define exchange rates for different purposes on the same date in the system. You can, for example, define exchange rate categories for middle rates, bid/ask and middle rates, or for middle rates with rate spreads.

Notes:

  • When the system translates currencies with the exchange rate category, it does not use the currency translation with the exchange rate type ("CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY" function), which is available across the applications.
  • Note that the interim results for translations using the exchange rate category have more decimal places than those using the exchange rate types. This means that the results may differ for translations with the same reference currency, even if the exchange rates saved under an exchange rate category or type are the same.

Dependencies

If you also define the exchange rate type in the exchange rate category, the system updates the exchange rates provided by the exchange rate category in the TCURR database table. The TCURR table belongs to the cross-application currency translation.
